Catching Up with Kati Issaians . . . My name is Kati Issaians and I am the newest member to join the HR team. I am very excited to lead ALC’s Health & Wellness efforts and partner with you to help create the best possible work experience and support your benefits needs! I love helping people and am passionate about them enjoying life inside and outside of the office. I look forward to learning more about each and every one of you to understand how I can help design a wellness program that best meets your needs. To give some background into whom I am and what I am about, I am originally from San Diego, CA and had every intention of leaving “America’s Finest City” to attend Marquette University in Wisconsin. Before trading my sandals for snow boots, my friend encouraged me to check out California Lutheran University outside of Los Angeles, CA. I toured the campus and my instincts told me CLU was where I was supposed to be. It was at CLU 13 years ago, where I met my would-be husband David and one of my professors gave me advice that has stuck with me over the years: “Work for a company with good core values above everything else.” After college, I worked for Progressive Insurance Company where I fell in love with all things people and culture. While working for Progressive, I earned my MBA, concentrating in HR. I’ve worked at eHarmony where some of my fondest memories were talking to Dr. and Mrs. Warren who were in the office almost every day. I was enamored with his story of how he started, grew, and saved his business (he came out of retirement right before I started); all while having a loving marriage and raising a family. Most recently, I worked on the HR team at Lieberman Research Worldwide (LRW), a business that grew out of one man’s dream to move to California and help businesses solve interesting challenges. Soon after starting at LRW, I led a wellness committee, and together, we built LRW’s Health & Wellness Program. I loved witnessing small wins such as seeing people engage in walking meetings, eating lunch anywhere besides their desk, and refilling their water bottles. Bigger wins included employees taking time out of their busy days to enjoy wellness activities such as onsite massages, participating in Fitbit challenges, leaving the office in time for dinner, and prioritizing their health over work by staying home when sick.
